Data Analysis in IRAF - I have my spectra... NOW WHAT???

Guess what?

I am back with new IRAF!

It's been a while since my last post about Data Analysis in IRAF. We ended up with fully reduced data but they are absolutely useless if we are unable to analyze them. For this purpose, we will use the splot task for inspecting and analyzing our spectra.

#ScienceSunday - Research Diary

Hey guys,

it is a while since my last post. Believe me, I wanted to keep posting every Sunday but I had some busy weeks. Of course I was procrastinating throughout it but it was not that bad and I had even some really productive and creative (what came as a big surprise to me) days. One more reason why I did not post anything is the lack of ideas for writing. A few day ago, I got an idea.

When you are working on some project (especially scientific project) or any research it is very important to keep track of all your steps, thoughts, problems and solutions or any other notes about your work. For this purpose, it is really recommended to write a Research Diary (it is also one of the evaluation points in project competitions such as Intel ISEF or EUCYS).

#ScienceSunday - How did I get to work on such a project

New Sunday, new post!

A lot of people I know are pretty amazed when I tell them that I'm working on a project where I'm analyzing data from the biggest world's observatories and they ask me how did I get to such a project, how did I get those data or how did I manage to analyze them. (My project can be found in one of my previous posts.)
Even you have the possibility to get data from world's biggest observatories sch as ESO VLT

The truth is that this work is basically very simple and could be managed by nearly anyone with computer and internet. The worst part on working on any project is to choose the topic and to get the idea. Just after you have got it, everything is much easier. This post is not about the best way how to choose topic because I have really big problems with that myself but rather about some possibilities you will have when you decide to work on an astronomical project.

#ScienceSunday - Test Data

Did you miss IRAF?

That is great because I am back with #ScienceSunday and IRAF reduction. Today I am not gonna introduce you into some new reduction steps but I am going to upload some test data for you to try all the steps mentioned in previous posts.

#ScienceSunday - IRAF Again

Hello Everyone,

It has been a pretty long time since my last post and even longer time since my last "scientific"work. I have been stick by procrastination since EUCYS (aww sweet EUCYS) and I could not force myself to start doing something meaningful.
Now, I want to do something that can help me with my recent or future projects, in my school or at scientific competitions. I will post it every Sunday with #ScienceSunday hashtag on my blog or Facebook so it could be used as my public research diary, inspiration for you and hopefully I stop procrastinating.
